Women Writing announces a series of workshops on different dates.
The workshop entitled “Why Ya? Exploring writing for young adults” will focus on writing for young adult literature. The first workshop will be held on Feb. 8, 2025, Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the 2/F Molave Building’s Conference Room, 2331 Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City.
There will be lectures, interviews, and sessions exploring the process of creative writing. The workshop will feature award-winning YA authors Candy Gourlay and Dean Francis Alfar. A lecture about the internal worlds and psych profiles of young adults today will be led by psychologist Dr. Liane Peña Alampay.
Moreover, discussions with romance YA author Mae Coyiuto, sports specialist Gerry Los Baños, historical fiction author Joel Donato Ching Jacob, and LGBTQIA+ writer Ingrid Valenzuela will take place in the afternoon part of the workshop. It will include an open Q&A session following activities in breakout groups to share ideas for stories.
The last part will involve a talk about what’s in and out of the book industry by Pumplepie Books & Happiness owner, Alexine Parreño and her daughter Adriana.

“Then…Now…Later: Navigating Time In Prose” is another workshop by Women Writing. It will cater to writers who are just building their early experience and practices. It will also be a full-day event to be led by Reni Roxas, award-winning author, publisher, and editor in chief of Tahanan Books.
This workshop for intermediate and advanced women writers will take place on Feb. 22, 2025, Saturday starting from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the same venue.
It will venture on the properties of time in writing stories. The workshop will be for a five-hour class for fiction, memoir, and creative nonfiction writers with at least two years of experience.
Participants will gain learnings through lectures, story analysis, discussions, and exercises on how to pace, give momentum, and establish structure to content that touches the reader in the way they intend to. There will be reading assignments before the class begins for those will join.
