A major loss for Alas Pilipinas Men’s Division as Bryan Bagunas suffered an apparent knee injury against Indonesia.
Despite the absence of Bryan Bagunas, Alas did its best to get a podium finish after the final day loss against Thailand. After the loss in the previous game, Alas dominated Vietnam resulting in their first country win in the tournament after following six unsuccessful attempts.
After a podium finish, Alas Pilipinas faced the challenge due to the injury of their star player Bryan Bagunas who suffered an apparent knee injury.
The volleyball star missed the game against Thailand, and no further announcement on the severity of his injury.
One of the players of Alas, Noel Kampton shares his statement regarding the injury of their team captain. “ Masakit para samin, hindi kami nakatulog nang maayos kasi alam mo yun, siya yung kapitan namin eh. Siya idol namin, tapos ganun mangyayari.” Said Noel Kampton who scored 10 points against Thailand.
Kampton added that he is pressured because he fills the shoes of their team captain.
“Sobrang pressured ako kasi pinalitan ko na pwesto kay Bry. Itong game na ito, win or lose ilalaban talaga namin para kay kuya Bryan, siya yung heart and soul namin eh. Pinagp-pray namin na okay yung results niya.” -Noel Kampton
Regardless of the absence of Bryan Bagunas along with Kampton, the Middle Blocker Veteran Kim Malabunga also contributed to the team.
“Ginawa naming motivation ‘yong pagkawala ni Bryan Bagunaskasi isa ako sa matanda sa team so sabi ko lang is gawin natin ‘yong best natin.” Kim Malabunga said.
The heart and soul of Alas, Bryan Bagunas was used as motivation by the Alas Pilipinas players.
