According to the Department of Health (DOH), Super Typhoon Carina has caused significant damage to healthcare facilities in several regions of the Philippines.
Approximately, 40 barangay health centers and facilities in the Calabarzon, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Ilocos Region, and Mimaropa.
DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa assured the public that health services in these areas remain operational despite the damage.
He also emphasized the need to rebuild the affected facilities with climate resilience in mind, considering the increasing frequency and intensity of typhoons due to climate change.
“We will rebuild those. We have quick relief funds,” Herbosa stated.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that the death toll from Super Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon has risen to 36 as of July 29th.
