Quiboloy surrendered to Stop “Lawless Violence,” says lawyer

Pastor Apollo Quiboloy voluntarily turned himself in to authorities on Sunday to prevent further “lawless violence” within the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound in Davao City, according to the church’s chief legal advisor.

In a statement released on social media, Attorney Israelito Torreon characterized Quiboloy’s surrender as a profound sacrifice. Torreon explained that Quiboloy could no longer tolerate the suffering endured by his followers and had been awaiting the outcome of legal actions pursued by his legal team before surrendering.

Torreon highlighted the distressing situation within the KOJC compound following a police search, which transformed the church into what he described as a “police garrison” and led to its desecration.

Despite being within his rights to await the results of legal procedures, Quiboloy chose to make the ultimate sacrifice by surrendering to the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines, as per Torreon’s statement. Quiboloy had been absent from public view since earlier this year when he made allegations of a “conspiracy” against him involving the Marcos administration and the US.

In addition to facing charges in the US for sex trafficking and fraud, Quiboloy is also subject to arrest warrants from the Senate for evading an investigation into alleged abuse within the KOJC, as well as from two courts for offenses related to child abuse, sexual abuse, and human trafficking.

Currently, Quiboloy is in the custody of the Philippine National Police and has been placed in their custodial facility.
