More than 18,000 posts are ready for grabs in the 2025 elections, Comelec says

According to the Commission on Elections (Comelec), candidates from around the country will compete for more than 18,000 positions for the May 2025 national and local elections.

The national race will include 12 senate seats, 63 party-list seats, and 254 congressional district seats.

Whereas, Local elections consist of 82 seats for the governor and vice governor, 800 seats for Sangguniang Panlalawigan members, 149 seats for city mayor and vice mayor, 1,690 seats for Sangguniang Panlungsod members, 1,493 seats for municipal mayor and vice mayor, 11,948 seats for Sangguniang Bayan members, 25 seats for BARMM members of Parliament, as well as 40 seats for BARMM party members.

The Comelec reported that as of September 17, it had registered 6,250,050 new voters. Calabarzon had the biggest number of new voters (1,041,179), which is followed by the National Capital Region (824,239) and Central Luzon (705,530).
