Caloocan has historical significance because it served as the Katipunan’s center of activities. Today, Caloocan is a thriving industrial city and residential area.
The current mayor of Caloocan is Dave Gonzalo “Along” R. Malapitan, during his administration, Mayor Along has been focused on enhancing the public’s quality of life and ensuring every Batang Kankaloo lives in a growing, clean, and peaceful Caloocan.
As part of his mission for Batang Kankaloo, Mayor Along proposed major initiatives for Caloocan CIty. These are the infrastructures that will contribute to economic growth, improve the quality of life as what Mayor Along wants for Batang Kankaloo, and create a sustainable and resilient city.
The Caloocan Government Center would be built on 8th Avenue in Barangay 101, an eight-story structure with a roof deck. It intends to consolidate all local and national government departments into a single structure in order to respond with Batang Kankaloo’s government transactions.
The new Caloocan North City Hall will be a replica of the existing structure in South Caloocan. The four-story building, which includes underground parking, will serve as the City Government’s official office in North Caloocan.
The Caloocan Hall of Justice would be situated at 8th Avenue in Barangay 105, with seven storeys of offices and a two-story basement. Prosecutors and judges will operate at the Caloocan Hall of Justice and hear cases from their offices on 10th Avenue.
Furthermore, Mayor Along also proposed the construction of UCC College of Medicine and Health Sciences which is the fifth UCC to be established by the city government. The building which will be constructed at Crispulo St. in Barangay 180, would have four floors and a roof deck. It will primarily provide courses in medicine and science.
On the other hand, the Caloocan Columbarium and Crematorium consists of two floors. Located on Sunflower Street, Barangays 187 and 178 feature four funeral houses. In this case, deceased loved ones can be put at ease and given a proper burial.
Caloocan’s Legislative Building will be a two-story building located above the Ziti Center on 7th Avenue in Barangay 103. Aside from the session hall, this is also the location of the vice-mayor’s official office and the Sangguniang Panlungsod officials.
Lastly, the Bankers and Deparo Residences, both located in Barangay 171, provide low-cost housing for Batang Kankaloo. This project is expected to help about 10,000 families by providing the same complete facilities, such as a basketball court, among others.
