Air Asia, a local airline, will be enforcing stricter rules regarding carry-on baggage.
According to a statement, each passenger is only allowed 7 kilograms consisting of 1 cabin baggage and 1 small personal item on board.
A backpack or a trolley bag is permitted as cabin baggage, with a maximum dimension of 56 cm in height, 36 cm in width, and 23 cm in depth, and it must fit in the overhead storage compartment.
On the other hand personal items like Laptop Bag or Handbags should fit under the seat in front of the traveler with a maximum dimensions of 40 cm height, 30 cm width, and 10 cm diameter.
Air Asia stated that multiple items strapped, wrapped, or tied together will not be considered as a single piece of baggage.
The airline further noted that any items bought at the airport will be included in the cabin baggage allowance, except for duty-free items placed in a Security Tamper-Evident Bag (STEB), which are exempt from cabin baggage allowance.
AirAsia Communications and Public Affairs Head & First Officer Steve Dailisan said, “Compliance also ensures fair access to overhead compartments for all guests, maintaining both safety and comfort.”
Air Asia stated that any cabin baggage exceeding the weight or size limits must be checked in.
The Baggage Policy is said to help the flights leave on time and facilitate a smoother boarding and disembarking process.
