House of Representatives receives the 2025 National Budget

The Department of Budget Management (DBM) turned over the PHP 6.352 trillion National Expenditure Program (NEP) budget to the House of Representatives for the fiscal year of 2025, earlier this day, July 29.

In a ceremony held earlier in Congress, Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman entrusted the national budget to House Speaker Representative Martin Romualdez.

The Congress is tasked to do deliberation for the proposed budget allocation per department that starts in each lower chamber.

This year’s national budget has increased from the 2024 national budget of PHP 5. 768 trillion, extending to 22 .1 percent of the total Gross Domestic Product of the country.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. submitted his proposed NEP yesterday, (July 28), to the Congress initiating the House to align on the version of the 2025 budget of President Bongbong’s, “Agenda of Priority: Fulfilling the Needs and Aspirations of the Filipino People”.

“We will make sure that enough funds will be allocated for social services and for programs that will sustain our economic growth,” President Marcos Jr. said.

The priority sectors have allocated budget funds as Education (DepEd, SUCs, CHED TESDA) received PHP 977.6 B, for Public Works (DPWH) with PHP 900 B.

The sector of Health (PhilHealth) is expected to get PHP 297.6 B while the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has a proposed budget of PHP 278. 4 B.

The remaining sectors under Defense (DND) have seen PHP 256. 1 B, for Social Welfare (DSWD) with PHP 230. 1 B budget, Agriculture (DA and attached corporations, DAR) obtained PHP 211.3 B, Transportation (DOTr) secured a PHP 180.9 B, Judiciary has PHP 63.6 B., and Justice (DOJ) PHP 40.6 B.

In support of PBBM’s Administration goal of social and economic transportation, this NEP coordinated with the  Development Plan of 2023-2028.
