EJ OBIENA SLIPS TO NO. 3 WORLD VAULTER

The 2024 Paris Olympics has concluded but the dreams of the athletes behind shows more aggression to be on top for the next 2028 LA Olympics.

Ernest John Obiena, the Filipino Olympian pole vaulter ranked down on his current status with no. 2 world vaulter before Paris Olympics down to no. 3 world vaulter.

Obiena finished in the top four, placing one way behind Emmanouil Karalis of Greece for bronze.

Meanwhile, Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis of Sweden remained intact with his undefeated title of ‘World No. 1’ vaulter followed by USA’s Sam Kendricks.

Despite a step down from his title, there’s more for the pole vaulter EJ Obiena to look forward to.

From an athlete who put his personalised PUMA shoes for auction to bid for his pole vault facility in Tuguegarao to hosting a Philippine International Vault Challenge in the country by bringing home the world’s best pole vaulters.

A step forward for Obiena as he also promised to be back with a stronger and bolder side of him to the next LA Olympics, and his next competition in 6 days.

“It has been said, “You never recognise the greatest moments in life, until they in your rear view mirror.” And it’s true. As I am enroute back to Italy and training, I have come to realize just now how special the last 24 hours, being at home in the Philippines, has been.” EJ Obiena said in his Facebook post.

“I am sorry I wasn’t in the parade; but as you know my season’s not over and there are upcoming competitions that I will compete in, starting in 6 days!” he added.

Season is not yet over with EJ looking forward to more opportunities in his pole vault career.
