One of the fiercest contestants for this year’s Binibining Pilipinas is also the youngest.
Christal Dela Cruz, a 19-year-old representative from Zambales, was named the first runner-up in Binibining Pilipinas.
She was questioned if being the youngest helped her during the competition upon the interview.
“I can’t say if it was an advantage or otherwise but what’s important is that I’ve shared my purpose and story. I’ve started joining pageants since I was 17. I may have come across as playful or just having fun but, the truth is, these competitions have given me a lot of learning and experience,” she stated.
During the question and answer portion, she was asked, “In an ever changing world, what is one thing that you wish would stay the same and why?”
Christal replied, “It would be being empathetic with one another. Because if we have empathy, nothing bad will happen. Adversities will never face because kindness will always stay true. That is something we need to do, that is what we need to always have the heart for everyone.”
Christal has a bright future in pageantry, and she can now take this time to consider the next phase in her career.
“I did my best during the Binibini pageant, not because of my inclusion in the hot picks, but because of what my core team’s assurance that I can do it. After I’ll complete my duties with BPCI (Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc.), I’ll take my time considering what my next options will be,” she said.
