‘Batas ka lang, hindi ka Diyos,’ VP Sara to PNP Chief Marbil

Vice President Sara Duterte posted an open letter in her Facebook page, calling the attention of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Rommel Marbil for bringing out alleged lies concerning the removal of 75 police security officers under the consensus of vice president, earlier, July 29.

In her four-page posted statement, Duterte pointed out the issue of Marbil making a big deal of removing PNP officers assigned to her as, “clear case of political harassment”.

Duterte said in her open letter, “Uulitin ko, wala akong problema sa pagbawi sa mga PNP personnel bilang security team ng Office of the Vice President (OVP).

(I repeat, I don’t have a problem with the removal of my PNP personnel as the security team of the Office of the Vice President (OVP).

“Kaya kong mag trabaho ng walang security”, she added.

(I can work without security.)

Duterte listed down her concerns regarding PNP Chief Marbil, crossing the line with the Vice President.

Duterte first stated the creation of the Vice Presidential Protection Division (VPPD) under the ruling of the National Police Commission that the PNP should not go beyond the security personnel group of the Vice President based on the rules of NAPOLCOM.

VP Sara also added that there was no request made by the PNP to retract all police officers under the PSPG.

PNP Chief Marbil released Relief Orders for relieving the security group of VP Sara stating, “We don’t see any threat against the Vice President so we need to reduce the number of people, if they want more, then we will add [it] if they request it.

On Wednesday, July 24, some parts of the country were placed under the State of the Calamity – in the middle of Super Typhoon Carina, joining the photo of the Vice President circulating online inside the Ninoy Aquino International Airport 3, announcing her departure to Germany for a family vacation.

Duterte provided a prior statement about her vacation in Germany and later on released an open letter asking the PNP Chief about the circulation of videos of her and her family being caught on cam, leaving the country.

“Hindi na baleng ako, ngunit nakuha at naisapubliko rin sa naturang video ang aking asawa at mga menor de edad na anak na naging isang banta sa kanilang seguridad”, she said.

Duterte added that the PNP also visited her home, getting her house addressed with the reason, “para mag-casing”.

Due to all the political harassment and threats experienced by the VP, she left a note to Ramil saying, “Batas ka lang, hindi ka Diyos”.

(You’re just the law, not God.)
