Through the visionary leadership of Tanauan City Mayor Nelson “Sonny” Perez Collantes, a valuable event by the City Gender and Development (GAD) Office pursued its initiative of conducting a two-day Refresher Seminar-Workshop on the Formulation of the GAD Plan and Budget and Introduction to the New GAD Database Portal for the GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) on October 28 and 29, 2025.
The function is in alignment with the ongoing strengthening of the foundation of GAD, particularly providing a comprehensive grasp of the fundamental concepts it covers and its relevance in the Philippine setting, in conjunction with the challenges surrounding and endured by the majority addressed by CALABARZON GAD Resource Pool Member and former OIC-GAD Ms. Rebecca “Vicky” Javier, recognizing the grueling situations surfacing in society and the significant function that each individual has in making the globe inclusive.

Adding to the knowledge, Mr. Gio Dela Piedra from Avietho Digital provided substantially by presenting the intricate steps of inputting and handling material on the GAD Database Portal and how it relates to the City Government’s aim of establishing more methodical processes. In his remarks, Mr. Dela Piedra highlighted that this is the very first time that Gender and Development will have its own portal rather than appearing in the corner of a government’s website, confirming a further milestone for Tanauan City.

In an exclusive interview with OIC-GAD and GAD-TWG Chairperson Ms. Diane Luna, she underscored the vitality of having such a portal as more than just a channel; it is a focal point for their planning and budgeting. She also mentioned forthcoming major activities, including the national 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC).

In the end, this is more than a seminar-workshop; rather, it is the result of a lifelong resolve and pledge to the people of Tanauan City that the government would do everything feasible to uphold that “Walang Maiiwan” in every department, sector, and industry.
