In a decisive move to safeguard the welfare of Tanaueño consumers, Mayor Sonny Perez Collantes has ordered the strict monitoring and inspection of all fuel retail stations across the City of Tanauan.
Through a formal memorandum, the city government mobilised a multi-agency enforcement initiative in close coordination with the Department of Energy Philippines, the Tanauan City Police Station, and other regulatory bodies.

This concerted effort ensures the strict local implementation of national energy policies and safeguards against exploitative practices amid fluctuating fuel prices. The measure also aims to protect consumers by guaranteeing fair pricing, sufficient fuel supply, and quality service delivery, while maintaining the uninterrupted flow of business operations and transportation within the city.
Anchored on existing laws and regulations, the city government reiterates that the following practices are strictly prohibited:
Fuel hoarding, or the illegal stockpiling of petroleum products, in violation of Batas Pambansa Blg. 33, as strengthened by Presidential Decree No. 1865.
Unjustified refusal to sell fuel, as provided under Section 3(a) of Batas Pambansa Blg. 33.
Non-compliance with fuel pricing and monitoring regulations issued by the Department of Energy.
Unauthorised price increases or overpricing, in violation of Section 3(c) of Batas Pambansa Blg. 33, as amended.
All fuel station owners and operators are hereby directed to strictly comply with these regulations. Violators shall be met with appropriate sanctions in accordance with the law to ensure fair trade, continuous fuel supply, and public order in the city.
These local measures are aligned with the broader policy direction of the national government under the leadership of President Bongbong Marcos, which, through the Department of Energy, continues to implement responsive interventions to mitigate the impact of rising fuel costs and maintain energy security in the country.

Complementing these national efforts, Mayor Collantes has proactively implemented local energy conservation measures. These include the adoption of a compressed four-day work week in the city government and the issuance of Administrative Order No. 05, Series of 2026, mandating a 30% fuel reduction and electricity conservation across all departments.
The order likewise enforces practical measures such as the early shutdown of air-conditioning units and lighting systems in government offices.

Through these decisive actions, Mayor Collantes continues to demonstrate responsive and forward-thinking leadership—balancing economic stability, environmental responsibility, and the protection of every Tanaueño household.
