Being an end-termer is an honor in the eyes of many, but it additionally implies a sacrifice that stretches beyond years. Success is not measured by the number of trophies and medals exhibited in a four-cornered chamber; rather, it illustrates the level of faith your constituents have in you and the attributes you can bring to the surface, as well as for them.

These are only a handful of the tough realities that Barangay Sucat of Muntinlupa City Chairperson Rafael Sevilla has encountered during his time in office. Coming back from being the Philippines’ youngest captain in 2002, he was prepared to give his all for his people.

He laid out the solutions for the program that is his top priority, namely tourism, which makes Sucat genuinely Sikat. He also placed a strong emphasis on the COVID-19 response which affected almost all of the industries—the only barangay in the city to implement micro lockdown to prevent scarcity in the community while still allowing constituents to make the most of their living. Likewise, he prioritized reducing active cases of the virus, which he credited to active monitoring. He also devised engaging and inventive methods for his people’s vaccination, which gallantly contributes to the population of those vaccinated.

These were just a few of Rapido sa Tungkulin at Serbisyo’s testaments, derived from his initials, RTS, his pillar, and a reminder of the standard of service he promises to deliver to the entire Sucat. Kapitan Raffy believes that political taglines are more than just that; they serve as a constant reminder that every day is an opportunity to push for absolute excellence. For him, achievement does not end; more so, it acts as energy to exceed your own leadership.

For the time being, his route is vague but free; he has not yet determined where it will lead him, but one thing is certain: he will never stop striving for success and rising high, just as the legacy he will leave for Sucat and the City of Muntinlupa.
