According to Stephen David, the legal counsel for former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, she intends to turn herself in but is concerned for her safety.
“Marami kasing threat, internal at saka external, we don’t have to elaborate on that, ‘yung mga talagang detailed na usapan bound kami ng lawyer-client privilege, pero basically gusto niyang sumuko,” David stated.
This was mentioned to him by Guo last August 22 during their recent conversation. “Ang nagde-deter lang yung 50-50 chance na papaano ang security kasi sabi ko nga maraming kalaban, hindi lang kasi gobyerno ang interested sa kanya, marami,” David added.
On the other hand, David is optimistic that Guo may be persuaded to surrender now that she observes the security offered for her sister, Shiela, who was arrested in Indonesia on August 21 with POGO agent Cassandra Li Ong.
“Nakikita naman niya yung security ni Shiela. I think may proof naman na secured naman si Shiela saka mas relaxed ngayon si Shiela doon sa kanyang kalagayan,” he said.
The Senate Subcommittee on Justice is scheduled to resume its hearing on Monday, September 2, to discuss how Ong and the Guo siblings had the opportunity to flee the country.
