Senate Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros is urging the Senate to proceed on the proposed dissolution or divorce bill and sexual orientation, identity, expression, and sexual characteristics bill.
“Just a brief manifestation to make of record na in fact finafollow up ko po sa good majority leader kung kailan po maitatakda yung hearing ng Committee on Rules para talakayin yung disposition ng ating chamber sa 2 committee reports yung isa po tungkol sa SOGIESC equality bill at yung isa naman po sa dissolution of marriage,” Hontiveros addressed throughout the plenary session.
Hontiveros stated how the dissolution of the marriage bill will enhance the institution of marriage.
“The over all effect on our society seeks to strengthen the institution of marriage dahil gusto ang lahat ng mga kasal natin sa ating lipunan ay actually in the image and likeness of what they were intended to be at di katulad ng ibang mga kasal na are abusive violent or neglectful and absent yung pag ibig at pagkalinga na itinuturo ng lahat ng relihiyon at faith communities at pati iba’t ibang klaseng humanism na meron tayo sa ating lipunan,” she said.
The proposed Dissolution of Marriage Act, also known as Senate Bill 2443, has been in the Senate plenary since September 18, 2023. Whereas the pending SOGIESC bills are being consolidated into one bill.
The House of Representatives has already approved the divorce bill on final reading, while the SOGIESC bill remains pending.
