Imus has a significant role in Philippine history. It is home to key heritage sites such the Imus Cathedral, Imus City Plaza, and Imus Heritage Site. The city also witnessed two major victories for the Katipuneros through the Philippine Revolution: the Battle of Imus and the Battle of Alapan. The latter represented a momentous event as the Philippine flag was raised for the first time, establishing Imus as the “Flag Capital of the Philippines.”
Today, Mayor Alex “AA” Advincula leads Imus in embracing progressive projects. His administration has started various breakthrough projects, including the development of the city’s first public hospital, the “Ospital ng Imus,” and the structure of the City of Imus Grandstand. The refurbishment of the Imus Land Transportation Office demonstrates the city’s effort to improve public services.
Mayor Advincula’s vision focuses on a five-point agenda program aimed at building a thriving city for all Imuseños.
1. Health, Education, and Public Service: Programs include Super Health Centers, Birthing Homes, scholarships for students, free medicines for senior citizens, and the “Alisto Imuseño” safety project.
2. Good Governance: Transparency continues a priority, with initiatives such as a zero-ghost employee policy, commercial tax breaks, and enhanced government service delivery systems.
3. Housing and Livelihood: Informal settlers are provided with residences, apprenticeship initiatives are implemented, and partnerships are formed to offer livelihood training.
4. Infrastructure: The city’s ambitions include expanding road networks, improving transportation systems, and forming partnerships to enhance water and mobile services.
5. Environment: Sustainable tourism projects, garbage segregation regulation, and the deployment of street sweepers aim to make Imus a cleaner, greener place.
With its historical pride and innovative efforts, Imus distinguishes itself as a city that honors its history while establishing a brighter future.
