Today, the transport groups led by Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (Piston) and Manibela began their two-day strike to protest the government’s implementation of the public utility modernization program (PUVMP).
According to Piston President Mody Floranda, the two-day strike offset in Cubao, Novaliches, Monumento, Sucat, Pasay, Baclaran, Bicutan, Parañaque, Taguig, Bicutan, Marikina, and Pasig.
“At 5 a.m. (today), we will start gathering in the mass up areas here in Metro Manila and different regions,” Floranda said.
“The Land Transportation, Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), the Department of Transportation (DoTr), and the administration refused to acknowledge the resolution issued by the Senate on the suspension of the PUVMP,” he added.
He also stated that the members of both Piston and Manibela will decide today whether they will continue to protest and move to Mendiola for the last day of strike.
“We will continue our transport strike in the coming months to oppose the PUVMP,” he furthered.
