Manila Zoo introduces its newest member, a young female lion named “Isla,” as an addition to the zoo’s exhibition and animal collection.
Led by Manila City under the leadership of Mayor Maria Sheilah “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan, along with the Department of Public Recreations headed by Mr. Roland F. Marino, Official-in-Charge, heartfelt gratitude is extended to the officials of Manila Achievers Lions Club, District 301-A3, for their generous donation of a lion cub to Manila Zoo.
However, while Isla is being nurtured and strengthened, she will temporarily not be accessible to the public.
Amid the excitement of Isla’s arrival, a controversy has surfaced regarding the welfare and conditions of the animals at Manila Zoo. Concerns have been raised about the overall well-being of the zoo animals and the adequacy of their habitats.
Citizens and animal welfare advocates call for increased transparency and accountability in the management of Manila Zoo to ensure the safety, health, and proper care of all animals under its care.
The ongoing dialogue aims to address these concerns and work towards maintaining a safe and enriching environment for all the zoo’s inhabitants.
