Piolo Pascual: A “Marcos Baby” with a story to tell

Piolo Pascual, the renowned Filipino actor, has revealed that he was born during the Martial Law era, making him a “Marcos baby.” In an interview with ABS-CBN EMEA News Bureau Chief Rose Eclarinal, Pascual shared that he grew up near Malacañang Palace, where his mother worked for one of the government departments.

This experience, he says, is part of the reason why he’s interested in portraying former President Ferdinand Marcos, Sr. in a film.  “As an actor, as a celebrity, I want to take on something that people will learn from, a story that needs to be told,” Pascual stated. However, he clarified that he wouldn’t produce a film about President Marcos Jr. to avoid political affiliations.

Pascual recently participated in the Barrio Fiesta event in London, where he expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to connect with fellow Filipinos abroad. He also shared his personal experiences as an OFW, drawing parallels to his roles in films like “Dubai” and “Milan.”

Despite his busy career, Pascual remains focused on his work and doesn’t feel the need to compromise his dedication by pursuing other commitments, including a romantic relationship. “I’m happy where I am. At this point, I never thought I’d stay single. But it is what it is. I don’t want to compromise my work by taking on another ‘thing’. I’m just really concentrated on what I’m doing. As much as I’m married to my job, I enjoy what I do and I don’t feel that there’s something lacking in my life,” he concluded.
