LIST: Cinemalaya concluded its 2024 Film Festival winners

After ten days of screening, Cinemalaya conducted their awarding ceremony last August 11, 2024. 

A docu-fiction film called “Tumandok” follows the life of a 16-year old tribal chief’s daughter who fights defenses against her people over ancestral land, won Best Film at the Cinemalaya Film Festival 2024. Meanwhile, Jaime Pacena II won as Best Director for “Kono Basho.” The film was Pacena’s directorial debut. For Best Actresses, Gabby Padilla (Kono Basho) and Marian Rivera (Balota) won the titles. Child actor Enzo Osorio (The Hearing) took home the trophy for Best Actor. 

“Tumandok” bagged five total awards including Best Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Music Score, and the Cinemalaya NETPAC Award for full-length. With the second highest number of awards at four, Kono Basho received Best Cinematography and Best Production Design. Here is the full list:

Best Editing: Dominic Bekaert – An Errand

Best Production Design: Eero Yves Francisco – Kono Basho

Best Original Music Score: Paulo Almaden, The Ati People of Kabarangkalan and Nagpana – Tumandok

Best Sound Design: Jedd Dumaguina and Mario Consunji – An Errand

Audience Choice Award for Full-length Film: BC Amparado, director – Gulay Lang, Manong
