On Wednesday, a Senate panel filed a subpoena ad testificandum to two GMA Network contractors that were named as respondents in actor Sandro Muchlach’s sexual harassment lawsuit.
Following, the Senate Committee on Public Information and Mass Media is conducting an investigation into the incident concerning Muhlach and GMA contractors Richard Cruz and Jojo Nones.
Both of them have denied any form of abuse towards Muchalch, the son of actor Niño Muchlach.
Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada ordered a subpoena after Cruz and Nones expressed regret for missing the hearing.
“I just read the letter coming from Mr. Richard Cruz and Mr. Jojo Nones and I believe that the letter, the statements stated here are unacceptable,” Estrada stated.
“I just would like to give a piece of advice to these 2 gentlemen, alam niyo pagka inimbita kayo sa Senado huwag niyo i-preempt ‘yung aming mga tanong. I think this letter is totally unacceptable and I move that we subpoena them ad testificandum on the next hearing,” he added.
Estrada additionally asked for Sandro Muhlach to appear at the committee, but his lawyer claimed that he is still unstable by the incident.
According to Marie Catherine Nollasco-Illescas, the chief of the National Bureau of Investigation’s (NBI) Anti-Graft Division, Muhlach undertook a behavioral science assessment, which resulted in a suggestion for limiting his public exposure.
Hence, Estrada dismissed the request.
